Quartzelec Secures Major Generator Overhaul Contract with SSE

Quartzelec Ltd, a leading independent engineering service provider, has secured a four-year, multi-site Framework Agreement with SSE to deliver the overhaul and servicing of the electrical generators at power stations across Scotland.
Covering more than 40 generators ranging from 0.5MW to 12MW, the agreement marks a significant milestone in Quartzelec’s continued growth within the power generation sector.
Awarded through a competitive tender process, SSE’s selection of Quartzelec reflects a strategic focus on enhancing the reliability and availability of both main and critical power supplies—particularly crucial in the event of a loss of mains interconnectors.

With over 100 years of heritage and experience, Quartzelec is a technical authority in the field of rotating electrical machines, supporting both OEMs and owner/operators with new equipment as well as maintenance, repair, and operations.
Work under the new contract is scheduled to begin in July, with generator inspections and servicing high on the immediate list of priorities.
