Delivering critical consultancy and maintenance services for rotating electrical machines

Quartzelec, an independent electrical engineering service provider and a globally recognised expert in the support of rotating electrical machines, has, over recent times, seen a significant increase in demand from across North and South America for its strategic advice and support services, responding by strengthening its operation and bringing Andrew Tesla on‑board as Commercial Consultant.

Andrew’s focus will be on leveraging strategic partnerships with global entities and developing business opportunities throughout the USA, in Canada and into South America.  Developing and deploying complex, engineered and integrated solutions for power producers and rolling out resources to meet and exceed the expectations of stakeholders is also a priority and an area in which Quartzelec excels.

“Having identified an increase in demand for our unique service offering, we took the strategic decision to increase our presence and profile in the Americas and in Andrew found the person with the drive, knowledge, experience, contacts and reputation to really have an impact,” stated Daniel Laval, Quartzelec’s Managing Director.

“There is an extensive, installed plant base of electric motors and generators across the United States with many of these machines considered to be ageing and fast becoming ‘legacy’ machines. Combined with reduced support from the OEM’s for such ‘legacy’ machines, owners and operators are looking for a reliable and technically competent service provider to assist in the maintenance, service and life extension of these machines. Quartzelec can fulfil that void. Our heritage and global presence means our expertise is increasingly in demand and Andrew, through his contacts and activities, will further raise our profile and satisfy the strategic requirements for a growing portfolio of customers across the region.”

Prior to joining Quartzelec, Andrew was the Montreal based Regional Sales Director for a UK based OEM that included 2 and 4-pole turbo generators, power management systems, transformers, Hawker Siddeley switchgear and Harrington diesel generators. Andrew also spent 10 years as Regional Sales Manager for a Canadian based Company covering Canada, USA and Europe plus 10 years as a Field Service Engineer and five years as an independent capital markets trader.

A qualified engineer, one of Andrew’s key areas of expertise within the field of rotating electrical machines is the health of these electrical assets specifically tracking the detrimental effects through the utilization of condition monitoring systems. This means that latter life performance can be managed, total cost ownership can be reduced over the lifetime of a machine, and potential catastrophic failures avoided. Quartzelec’s LIFEVIEW® suite of products are among the monitoring ‘tools’ which Andrew will be heavily involved in promoting the benefits of.

In the U.S., Quartzelec has already consulted on the maintenance of critical rotating electrical machines with recent projects comprising of Defense, Steel, Waste to Energy and Hydro-generator work.
