We are looking for an Operations Manager fro our R&M business based in Aberdeen to lead from the front with the ability to manage the operational, functional, customer and employee strategy in a well-established business. You will be responsible for the development of the business, maintaining existing customers ensuring a continuous pipeline of work and draw on your people, commercial and financial acumen to drive the business to success.
Key Responsibilities & Accountability
- Working as part of the management team to achieve the overall objectives of the business unit by driving high standards of work and continuous improvement in process and quality of operations
- Responsible for the P&L, budget and commercial responsibility of the Profit Centre, including cash flow, collection and ownership of orders. Developing and delivering budgets in line with forecasts and expectations
- Ensure compliance with all Company Policies. Particular attention is drawn to the requirement to manage operational delivery in accordance with the Companies Safety Rules
- Management of the Profit Centre, processes, and procedures to achieve right first time and customer satisfaction
- Understanding contracts to read, interpret and implement appropriate controls utilising support from the management and Commercial team as required
- Understanding the market, identifying, and delivering opportunities to tender
- Setting clear and measurable goals and objectives to develop culture of performance linked to the overall strategy to drive performance
- Proactively manage costs and improve efficiency to increase profit centre performance and profitability
- Take lead role in all HR activities within the profit centres, coaching and developing the workforce ensuring quality, health and safety standards are maintained in accordance with company policies and relevant legislation
- Assisting the Business Manager with any other duties as and when required
- Role model the required behaviours and standards of work
Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes
The successful applicant will ideally possess: -
- Demonstrable experience of managing a team
- Demonstrable experience of understanding and managing P&L, budget control, commercial and financial acumen for budgets exceeding 3 million
- Customer focused thinker with outstanding interpersonal skills for communication at all levels
- Demonstrable experience of business development activities and or increasing sales and profitability
- Excellent people management skills with the ability to lead, motivate and develop workforce
- Possess excellent knowledge of the M&E and HV/LV electrical engineering services industry and markets
- Degree in Electrical Engineering desirable
- 5 years plus relevant experience in managing within engineering business
- IOSH /SMSTS H&S for Managers
