Compliance Engineer - Rugby


We are looking for a Compliance and Certification Engineer to be responsible for ensuring all Quartzelec’s products are compliant with relevant regulatory requirements. The role will include working with various regulatory bodies to identify and execute technical certification requirements. Additionally, the role will encompass the production of test and quality documents to demonstrate compliance with stringent client quality requirements.

The main areas of conformity to be addressed are:

  • Electrical safety (low, medium and high voltage machines)
  • EMC compliance
  • UKCA/CE marking of relevant products
  • Functional safety (control functions for machinery safety)
  • ATEX/IECEx/UKCA certification for Ex applications (primarily Ex ‘eb’ & ‘ec’).
  • Quality requirements for Nuclear and equivalent industries
  • Compliance with Classification Society design requirements for offshore applications

 

Key Responsibilities & Accountability

  • To identify any regulatory requirements and cost implications at project bid stage
  • To author validation & verification reports with supporting test plans & reports that can be used to certify the product
  • To assist in ensuring that conformity requirements are correctly reflected in user documentation
  • To maintain an awareness of relevant developments in international technical standards and regulations, including in applications affecting the safety of machinery
  • Responsible for working in collaboration with the design engineers to ensure that products under development meet requirements and specifications
  • Lead and manage the process of ensuring that all the equipment, products and process systems are marked in accordance with the relevant directives, for example CE/UKCA
  • Leading design and machinery risk assessments in line with national/international standards for equipment, products, and systems
  • Ensure compliance documentation from suppliers of products being supplied as part of projects meets regulation standards
  • Developing and managing all compliance documentation as part of an overall Quality Management systems process in line with company ISO9001 procedures
  • Managing the generation of project documents, including operation manuals, and test and review documents for capital equipment projects
  • Compile all job packs, including key certifications and documentation repositories and archives (electronic and paper)
  • To be the Ex/ATEX/IECEx Authorised Person - The technical authority and point of contact for all queries and issues relating to Ex certification for new and repaired/serviced equipment, including liaison with 3rd party authorities
  • Maintain the EU Authorised Representative Technical File

     

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • An experienced Compliance Engineer with the ability to lead a team who is customer focussed, commercially astute and can provide sustainable profitable business growth
  • Knowledge of compliance with key international standards
  • A minimum of 3 year’s experience of compliance engineering/ safety engineering
  • Proven experience working on multi – disciplinary systems (Electrical, Mechanical Software)
  • Technically strong with a commercial mind-set
  • Customer facing skills to agree quality requirements and compliance demonstration
  • Problem solving skills
