LIFEVIEW® PDA II Condition Monitoring Solution
Our Customer’s Challenge
Quantum Energia, a leading power producer in Spain and Latin America, required a comprehensive Partial Discharge (PD) / condition monitoring system for six 100MW turbo generators in Altamirs, Mexico. The solution was required to seamlessly integrate the monitoring system into a unified, centralised portal, to enable real time analysis and reporting, ensure operational efficiency and enhance monitoring capabilities. Working with Quartzteq’s Mexican distributor Krodex, Quartzteq provided a customised solution that fully met the client’s requirements.
The Quartzelec Solution
As Quartzteq’s appointed agent, Krodex installed the LIFEVIEW® PDA II, a permanent online condition monitoring system, providing continuous monitoring of PD activity. Site services also included configuration to integrate the hardware with the plant’s existing systems. Physical space near the switch connection was allocated for hardware installation, and pre-assigned IP addresses were allocated for each PDA II to streamline device connectivity. The PDA II Ethernet based data export using Modbus TCP protocol, allowed straightforward access to real-time measurement data. The software was installed and configured, ensuring seamless integration
into a unified portal, displaying PD data, with additional customisation options available, to meet specific requirements. Control tests were conducted to verify full system functionality, and a comprehensive final report was provided, summarising the installation process and performance results.
