The Project
With a long history between GE and Quartzelec, we were called in to assist GE in the UK on a major project. The priority was to become accredited by GE North America before we could carry out, to the highest specified standards, Ex rated work on their AC traction motors. This covered the modification of the terminal box, through to the process of dismantling and rewinding the stator.
Our range of services included:
- Full step by step inspection and report
- Modification to GE Ex spec on the terminal box and busbars
- Repair & rewind of the stator
- Condition monitoring and vibration analysis
- Load testing up to rated output
- Full load simulation – acceleration/deceleration
- Re-specification of the process of rewinding and resin spraying process
Outcome
Through our close partnership with GE, and the vast experience of our qualified workforce, we were able to deliver a solution that suited not just the GE in the UK but GE North America as well, within the specified time scale, and to budget.
