Background
British Telecom is one of the National blue chip companies. We have had intense competition to retain the contract from 1994 to 2011 that you would expect for a client of the stature of British Telecom.
The Project - LV Competencies for BT
1994 to 1999
Quartzelec were awarded the Measured Term Contract for the North Wales area which consisted of works such as:
- General maintenance to electrical installations within all BT telephone exchanges throughout North Wales. This includes rewiring / replacing lighting installations, power supplies etc.
- Upgrading and replacement of electrical panels, switchgear and cabling infrastructure.
- Installation / replacement of UPS systems.
- Installation of new and replacing of old generator sets and associated controls and wiring.
- Carrying out electrical installation works in conjunction with Weatherite and Edenaire to provide ventilation systems for exchanges.
1999 to 2004
Quartzelec secured the MTC for Wales and West, the North East of England, Scotland carrying out works as detailed above.
2005 to 2008
Having tendered for the MTC works in North and South Wales, the North East and the North West of England areas, we were successful in securing these works as Primary Electrical Contractor. In Scotland we have secured 50% of the Measured Term works and we have been appointed as Secondary Electrical Contractor in the South West of England.
2008 to 2011
Having tendered for the MTC works in North and South Wales, the North East and the North West of England areas and Scotland. We were successful in securing these works as Primary Electrical Contractor, and DNO co-ordinator.
Activities undertaken by Quartzelec for BT
- Various electrical small works within their buildings i.e.; additional power circuits.
- New electrical installation works provided by BT planners in areas covered under the MTC.
- New LV Boards in exchanges and any temporary supplies needed.
- Upgrading and replacement of electrical panels, switchgear and cabling infrastructure.
- Installation / replacement of UPS systems.
- Installation of new and replacing of old generator sets and associated controls and wiring, plus providing temporary sets when required.
- Installation of containment for DC power, AC supplies and fibre in exchange floors.
- Supply to Telecom racks and installation of PDU in exchanges.
- Full electrical Data Centre fit-outs.
